BAFTA roept Hopkins en McDormand uit tot beste acteur en actrice
Anthony Hopkins (83) en Frances McDormand (63) hebben de belangrijkste acteursprijzen tijdens de uitreiking van de BAFTA's gewonnen. Hopkins viel in de prijzen voor zijn rol in 'The Father' en McDormand kreeg de prijs voor beste actrice in 'Nomadland'.
Beide acteurs hebben al een BAFTA op de schoorsteenmantel staan. De inmiddels 83-jarige Hopkins won de award voor beste acteur ook voor The Silence of the Lambs (1992) en The Remains of the Day (1994). McDormand won recent voor Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2018).
De BAFTA's voor beste mannelijke en vrouwelijke bijrol gingen respectievelijk naar Daniel Kaluuya in Judas and the Black Messiah en Youn Yuh-jung in Minari. De Rising Star Award werd uitgereikt aan Bukky Bakray voor haar rol in Rocks.
